Zack Bacon #40 - Junior (Linebacker) - Parents: Kim and Larry Bacon. Season highlights: Made 90 tackles with 4 1/2 sacks to lead Hornell (39-0) to a third consecutive Class B state championship. Named Section V Ontario Honda Defensive Player of the Year. Most Valuable offensive back of the state final as a fullback. Academics: 85 average. Other sports: Wrestling and baseball. About me: Three-year starter with another season of eligibility. Named a first-team Livingston County league all-star each season with the Red Raiders, who have won 39 consecutive games. Favorite athlete is San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis.

Dominic Scavo #11 - Senior (Quarterback) - Parents: Anne and Rich Scavo. Season highlights: Class B state champion Hornell (13-0) completed a three-year, 39-game undefeated run with the Livingston County all-star at quarterback. Passed for 1,336 yards with 15 touchdowns and ran for 13 more touchdowns. Academics: 3.7 grade point average. Future plans: Undecided on plans after high school. Contacted by Alfred, Wagner, Rutgers, Central Florida, State University of New York at Buffalo among others. About me: 2010 AGR first teamer also plays baseball and basketball. MVP of state final as a junior. Passed for 3,593 yards with 45 touchdowns and ran for 36 touchdowns in three seasons.

Scott McKibben #22 - Senior (Running Back) - Parents: Kim and Scott McKibben. Season highlights: MVP of Class B state and Section V finals, also most valuable offensive player in Hornell's state semifinal. Ran for 2,275 yards on 230 carries and scored 33 touchdowns for the state champion Red Raiders (13-0). Academics: 77 average. Future plans: Would like to major in environmental studies. Considering playing or attending at the College at Brockport, Utica, Hartwick, Alfred, Morrisville or Penn State. Also plays baseball. About me: Helped Hornell win three consecutive Class B state titles and build the team's win streak to 39 games over a span of three seasons.

Gean Mastin (Co-Coach of the Year) - Resides: Hornell. Years as coach: The last 28 of 32 were at Hornell, where his record is 221-56-3. He is Section V's all-time wins leader. Retires with 240 wins overall. Season highlight: 2009 AGR Coach of the Year capped coaching career with a third consecutive Class B state championship, each won during a 39-game win streak. By the numbers: 11 Section V championships, 13 league or division titles, 14 seasons of nine or more wins at Hornell and 2 New York State Class B Coach of the Year awards. Family: Wife, Cheryl and daughter Nicole.

** SECTION V, CLASS B AWARDS **

Ontario-Honda Section V, Class B Players of the Year:

CLASS B - Offensive: Dom Scavo of Hornell Scavo, a 6’2”, 200-pound senior quarterback was First Team All State last year. Through the first nine games this year he has hit 46 passes in 64 attempts good for 964 yards and 12 touchdowns with no interceptions. He also has seven rushing touchdowns. He has only played the second half in five games. He is 34-0 as a starter over the last three years and Hornell has averaged 48 points a game over that time.

CLASS B - Defensive: Zack Bacon of Hornell… The 6’, 215-pound junior linebacker is a two-way starter and team captain. He has 63 tackles (32 solo, 31 assisted), along with four quarterback sacks through nine games ... only four of which he played in the second half. He is the leader of a defense that has only given up four touchdowns all year and a total of 29 points.

Ontario-Honda Section V, Class B Players of the Week:

Week 1 (offensive): Scott McKibben - #22 (Senior), a 5’9”, 175-pound senior running back scored three touchdowns -- via runs of 52, one and 35 yards. He had 218 yards on 12 carries in only one half of play during Hornell’s 55-8 victory over Bishop Kearney.

Week 4 (offensive): Scott McKibben - #22 (Senior), McKibben, a 5’9”, 165-pound senior running back scored two touchdowns … on runs of five-, and 11-yards. In all, he gained 221 yards on 21 carries in Hornell’s 30-0 victory over Livonia.

Week 4 (defensive): Zack Bacon - #40 (Junior), The 6’, 215-pound junior linebacker made seven solo and seven assisted tackles in Hornell’s 30-0 victory over Livonia. Four of the tackles were for losses.

Week 6 (defensive): Zack Bacon - #40 (Junior), A previous player of the week, the 6’, 215-pound junior linebacker made nine solo and four assisted tackles in Hornell’s 63-0 victory over Dansville. He also had two quarterback hurries and one forced fumble playing only the first half of the game.

Week 7 (offensive): Scott McKibben - #22 (Senior), McKibben, a 5’9”, 165-pound senior running back, gained 179 yards on 23 carries. He scored three touchdowns in Hornell’s 35-0 victory over Bath. To date he has rushed for 1,027 yards on 96 carries good for 14 touchdowns.

Week 7 (defensive): Zack Bacon - #40 (Junior), A previous player of the week, the 6’, 215-pound junior linebacker made 17 tackles in Hornell’s 35-0 victory over Bath, the third Hornell shutout in the last four games. He also had a quarterback hurry and a forced fumble.

Week 8 (defensive): Zack Bacon - #40 (Junior), A previous player of the week, the 6’, 215-pound junior linebacker made 14 tackles in Hornell’s 48-0 victory over Bath, the fourth Hornell shutout in the last five games. He also had two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble.
